Well, it soon came around again, didn't it? Unfortunately, we had to postpone our Christmas visit to see the children at Ty-Hafan, but all Gifts were taken to The Barn instead, and were to be delivered by Barry to the hospital by the following week. We also had to cancel our Father Christmas Parades in Neath and Pontadawe the two preceding weeks, due to adverse weather conditions!!!

Everyone was snowed in. Never mind, all being well, we'll be there in force next year.

On to the meal, what a fantastic turn out. I believe there were about 42 people present, lots of well known faces and a few not so well known, (at least to me). We would also like to extend a warm SWW welcome to Jeff & June Howells, a new couple joining our fold. We hope you have many pleasant days with us on our ride outs, and enjoy our help & companionship.

The Meal, well what can I say, after a few words from Bob & Barry, (including passing around a "thank you letter" from Care for Uganda, reproduced below) we got on with the main reason for being there, and, I have to say, thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and got into the spirit of Christmas, what with the party hats, crackers, toys, and not forgetting the brilliant (ok, ok, I know they were rubbish) jokes.

The food itself was up to it's normal great standard, generous portions at an unbelievable price. (Our Bob & Barry are pretty good at this negotiating stuff, aren't they?), and I believe everyone made their way home with full stomachs, and a good time was had by all.

Look forward to seeing you all in the New Year

Letter from Care for Uganda

Dear South Wales Wings,

I am writing to thank you for your generous support of Care for Uganda over the past couple of

years.

I have been very impressed with your dedication, including collecting money in the pouring

rain!

Your money has been used in Uganda in a number of ways.

Firstly, your money has enabled us to kick start our most recent project which provides pigs,

chickens and goats for very poor families. These families then

breed the animals. They give a pair of animals back to Care for Uganda who in turn donate these

to yet another needy family. The original family can then use

all other animals they breed in order to improve their own life situation.

This project is already having a big impact wihin the community at Bbowa, which was the centre

for the civil war of the 80's and which, up

until now, has not been rebuilt or regenerated.

Secondly, some of your money has been used to help us to complete the Care for Uganda

accommodation block. One of the most dangerous things we do in Uganda is

travel on their roads which are an absolute deathtrap. Sadly, I have seen a number of fatalities.

Indeed Richard helped give first aid at the scene of an

accident in his most recent trip to Uganda.

By having an accommodation block at Bbowa, we will be able to vastly reduce the amount of

travelling time, thus reducing our risks.

Furthermore, by having an accommodation block in Bbowa, we have already made a clear

statement to this community that, unlike other Non-Government

Organizations, who have helped for a short while then left, Care for Uganda are prepared to work

in Bbowa for many years to come. The community of Bbowa

are extremely happy at this sign of commitment.

Our team will be staying in this accommodation block for the first time on our next trip to

Uganda in January 2011.

I hope you can clearly see the immense value of the support for this work which has been given

by South Wales Wings over the past couple of years. It would be

great if you were able to continue to support us in the future but, I fully appreciate that there

may be other good causes you want to support.

I pray that God will bless you all for your efforts and continue to give you much joy as you enjoy

the open roads!

Thank you once again for your support.

Yours,

Andy Pilcher - Trustee
